The Cries of the Innocent
Unspoken voices from beyond the grave, words never spoken but remained still. Memories of hurt and pain forever float in one's brain. Flashes of strife, agony, war, betrayal and deceit still visit me in my sleep. I cannot believe the moment of clarity never came, how I dislike the rain, negative thoughts running in and out of my brain, weighing me down like heavy chains.
Betrayal has me trapped once again, boxed in like a terrified rat, helpless and confused as I was dragged in like a fool. Staring into space, I try to think about the good old days, but reminiscing makes my brain ache. I try to remember the last thing you said to me before you walked out the door, returning my keys, but thinking hard and deep makes me want to fall asleep.
So I paused a while, gave a sigh and once again, I began to cry. Thinking of you makes me believe I am standing out in the rain, alone and in a lot of pain. These memories trigger anxiety and fear, whereby I have no choice but to drop a tear.
The abuse and betrayal brought upon the family opened doorways of strife, anger, war, abuse, lies, and blood stains that tainted the windows of my heart with permanent wounds and scars that are unable to heal.
These emotions and feelings are like an invisible wheel spinning and making it difficult for me to breathe. Dear Dad, don't you dare, shed a tear, these words I compose are for the broken, the unspoken children, the mother that has been forgotten, the son that was abandoned, the daughter that was misused, the family that was pushed aside and the wife that was abused.
I wonder if you can hear me as I write this letter for you, a love song with an abundance of simple yet true words. My sister and I wrote this song for you. We are the unheard voices, the forgotten, the ones who did not get chosen by you.
Our beloved Father made us broken. Don't you dare shed a tear for me, your choices made our voices unspoken.
In the cellar we hid, in the dark we cried, and among the crowd we were ashamed because we thought we were too blame. Our tale is all about the pain. You sold our soul at a price, you saw us as less than gold, we were meant to be your treasure, ''Daddy's Little Girl's'' but you trade us, poked us made us your fools, you lied to us, deceived us and betrayed us ' Daddy', you are the Judas of this dark world.
Our letters are filled with great pain. We are children who are constantly playing out in the cold rain, our words are deep, and when we choose to speak, our heart echoes throughout the streets.
I heard you had moved away. I wish I could say I wanted you to stay, but today that would be a lie, as you made our life a battlefield filled with grief and great strife. Dad, I have to ask, why did you make Mom your wife?
This letter I had written is not a plea, it's more a reminder of what you had done to the family. The children you tossed out at sea, the seed you disregarded, abandoned and cast aside, never once thinking of lust and pride. Dad, your actions made me cry as you decided to leave and lie. You have the right to disagree, as you believe your choice to flee was to set us free; however, we disagree that this plan of yours only brought us to our knees.
Dad, do you even remember our name? God alone knows how I wish you could take some blame, but then I remembered that you have no shame, as you believe that your departure had not caused my sister and me any pain.
I have to say, to a degree, you cared more about being carefree, you made us the victims of your silly love game, you dismantled the family and drove us through court and therapy. People may say, We are too young to understand, but this deception is not our idea of a big joke. Here is a Father’s Day card for all the Father's Days we have missed and will continue to miss.
Our new dad is a superhero; he is wonderful in every small way. He is mighty, strong, fierce, and unstoppable. He is known as our superhero.
He has charisma and charm when he walks; the whole world trembles. My dad is Gorgeous, he's a mighty King, the only one whose name is uttered from Nation to Nation. Our Dad cannot be broken; he is a legend, he's talked about in tales. His stories are no exaggeration, our Dad is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He's truly awesome.
Dad, we want you to know that the Son of God has accepted us as his own in his kingdom. We are at home, we are no longer abandoned or on our own. Here is hoping that someday, you will remember our name and know of our worth.
