The Angel of Death

Death a word we fear an angel we cannot see yet in our final hour he draws our last breath and takes us to a place beyond how his presence sadens me he loves no one and mercy is not his companion. He has no friends and obeys no one he waits patiently and observes quietly and in that hour he steals your joy and takes your soul his presence angers me.

The anger within the feeling of annoyance great displeasure and hostility, an emotion that divides a home lock the door and steal one’s joy this was her new domain here there was no light and no escaping, darkness was on every side.

Two weeks before visiting Stephan in prison Patrice had asked her friend Debbie for advice. Debbie and Patrice had been friends since her eldest son was at the age of two they both shared many secrets and during their adulthood life they had lots of fun and wonderful adventures together.

For a while you can say these two where in separable well that’s what they both thought until Debbie got ill and was diagnose with lung cancer. When Patrice had learnt of Debbie’s illness apart of her felt guilty as she felt time was against them.

They had spent time apart as their both were married and was now living separate lives they didn’t see much of each other until both their marriages had broken down. Her untimely illness added even more pressure and sorrow to Patrice’s life as Debbie was her rock.

It was clear that Patrice was being suffocated there was a tight rope around her neck and at any moment she would draw her last breath. Nothing made sense fear step in followed by death, pain, anger, doubt, hatred, bitterness, regret and longing. 'Yes', longing,' hope' to be set free this was the key to her survival.

First the loss of Stephan now her best friend the person who knew her it was as though the God’s were against her there was no explanation, no answer. Anger was on the increase her blood boiled, her heart ached and her head spined constantly.

It felt as though she was on a roller coaster ride and there was no stopping everything was spinning at three hundred and sixty degrees. Tears could not find its way in as her heart was being harden and her prayers were being unanswered it appears God was not at home where was her saviour, her redeemer, her friend. She had dialed his number time and time again but there was no response.

The one she called her comforter was nowhere to be found the pain was not decreasing Debbie had only months to live and Patrice had to put aside her anguish and force herself to smile it was important for her to allow her friend to leave the earth believing she would be alright.Debbie had eventually passed and Patrice was left holding another dagger.

Ephesians 4:26-27

“In your anger do not sin”, Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry and do not give the devil a foothold."
