Still Love

A smirk, a snort and a slit of the throat. A belch, a bang and a bullet to the heart. A smile, a shake and a snap of the neck. Oh, the bragging rights you'll get. Shank a granny you're a star. Feed a pig to your dogs and you're a superstar. Kill your sister and eat her brain, a madman hero. The worse your crimes the more destined you are for super stardom. Aw, what's the matter, Cupcake? Think it horrible? Welcome to my world! Years in the not so distant past have led us here. You must be vile, a miscreant, and a demon in human skin suit. I once saw a "friend" of my brother literally hit a cop in the face with brass knuckles just to steal the picture of his dog. Saw a woman cut off a little girl's braids right to the scalp for simply saying "hi". I saw a little boy of 9 stab his grandpa in the knee because he got his nose. This world is savage but now it's all anyone knows. There are gangs fighting grands in the street. Cops fighting kids. Moms are just baby factories. Dad's are no more than walking wallets and punching bags. Children are walking abominations. Yes, this world is much worse than even a year ago. The animals have even went farther back than expected, or maybe forward. They are beyond barbaric. Usual herbivores have mutated and now crave every kind of flesh. Even that of their own kind. Domesticated animals are a thing of the past. However, there are a wonderous few that are so in touch with nature that they can calm the wild ones. I am one such lucky one. Hi, my name is Sasspirillo Sammy. Just a nickname, of course, but it's how I am known round these parts. I'm the only female left in my lineage probably because of my unique abilities. What's one to do, just let my family die out...maybe it'd be for the best. My talent is unique to say the least. When going near to an animal these days you know death usually awaits behind wide virile eyes. Any human with the I.Q. of a crayon knows even kittens will hang up on you and have done with you before dinner. Me on the other hand, I can tame the wildest of lions with a gentle stroke and soft purr. Can nuzzle the alpha wolf of any pack with a cluck of the tongue and a promise of love. Can tame the meanest cows with a good but gentle milking. I have not met an animal yet that I can't garner respect and love from, I can not say the same for my human counterparts. There is a legend of a young man with abilities that mirror mine. He is a few years younger than I and is said to ride upon a fire red mustang. He is tall and wiry like a whip, his shoulder length raven black hair bouncing as he rides upon his fiery mount. His liquid lava-like brown eyes are as cold and calculating as technology. People say had he not had his animal magnetism he would've lost his soul long ago. They call him Tey Syn from the rumors circulating round bout here, he searches for me. He wanders day and night, slowly making his way toy homestead. My heart constantly cries out to his, my animals seem a little sad too. They say he adds to our collection as he journeys. He travels amidst a wild menagerie. I can not wait for my Tey to arrive. We will be protected by our wild children. When we have our human Cubs they will be well protected in this mad, mad world. As I see my Tey enter my property with his wild entourage I thank my Creator that even in this mad, sad, cruel world there is still love. Still love!
