It was all there, laid out on the table.

Everything they would need to cause some serious mayhem.

There were seven of them, all dressed in black. It was a good day for a funeral.

“Joe dropped out.” Said Isaiah.

“What the frick?” Answered Jake.

“He said he can’t do it.”

“I knew he was a fairy.” The blonde high school student shook his head as the young man with the short brown hair continued. "So we’re down to six.” He paused. There was no leader but if they had one it would be Jake with the short brown hair. “Can we still do it?”

Isaiah, the blonde haired blue eyes devil, said, “I think so but it leaves one door open.”

“Shoot.”

“Hey guys. You hear about Joe?” They just shook their heads. “Well I guess its contagious Morty is out too.” Said Nick.

“Five?” Asked Isaiah.

“Five.” Said Nick.

“Frick.” Said Jake.

“Yeah.” Said Nick but he knew Aaron and Shawn were solid, or so he hoped.

2

They weren’t ready yet, parts of the new plan had to be put in place before they could do it. Nick was in home room with the other four. They sat in the back and ogled the girls. Henry, the high school quarterback came in and gave his girlfriend a kiss.

“I’d give anything to be with her.” Said Nick and he knew that’s what all this hate was from. He wanted the girls bad but he didn’t know how to get laid. He had done it once with a girl down the street but she moved away soon after. It crushed him and he still ached in his heart for her. So here he was the loser crowd that drank because they thought it was cool and smoked weed whenever they could get it. No chicks were into him or his friends and they hated the school for it. They had all had girlfriends but none of them panned out.

Home room went by and they made it through lunch time and all the way to last period. Jake lived close and they always went over there after school. This time they were followed by a fellow sophomore. She was pretty but was shy a little bit and she fought her silence on that day like every other.

“Look who’s behind us.” Said Nick. They all turned and looked at her, her strawberry blonde hair jumping in the breeze. She laughed seeing them all turn around.

“Go talk to her.” Said Aaron.

“I don’t know…” Said Jake his mind was so set on the plans that he couldn’t focus on anything else right now. He looked back, she sure was cute.

“Just do it. We all know you need to get laid.” Said Shawn.

“All right. Frick it.” Said Jake and he stopped as the others continued and he had to admit there was a moment of magnitude there as she slowly walked toward him. As soon as he got close to her he said, “You’re Julie right?”

“Yeah.” She was shocked he knew her name and a little nervous. She was still a virgin. “I just live…”

“You live down the street right?”

“Street.” She giggled a contagious laugh that made him smile. “Yeah.”

Her smile was pretty and he realized she was beautiful. Why hadn’t he noticed before? He didn’t know and he decided not to dig too deeply.

“So what do you guys do? I always see them at your house.”

“Oh not much just some video games, TV, or pool.”

“Oh u have a pool?”

He smiled. “No pool like billiards, I mean yeah we do have a pool too.”

“Do you think I could go for a swim?”

“Sure, I mean I guess you can.”

“Ok I’ll just go home to get my suit.”

3

They were all inside the basement room that Jake had.

“What are you crazy bringing her here?” Asked Nick.

“Don’t worry she’s just a girl what harm can it do?” Said Aaron.

“I mean seriously he hasn’t been laid since middle school.” Said Isaiah. “Besides which everything is put away.”

“Yeah she won’t find it.” Said Shawn.

“I hope you know what the frick you’re doing.” Said Nick shaking his head. There were a lot of things going on and he hoped Jake knew what he was doing.

He heard the doorbell. “Alright guys shut up she’s here.”

“Hey you look great.” She had on a plaid skirt and bikini top, for a chesty girl she was trim everywhere else. He couldn’t get enough of looking at her, she was so pretty.

“Thanks.” She said looking down. It was her shyness shining through. She hated it, she hated the feeling of being overwhelmed. It just that thing he said made her all warm inside. She looked him in the eyes, a bold step for her, and asked, “Where is the pool?”

“Right out back.” He said not moving and then he caught himself. “Oh I’ll show you.”

“Thanks.” Ugh all she could say was thanks she felt like such a moron, he had to know she was into him by now. Shoot, she was blushing.

“There it is.” He said with the wave of an arm. If he didn’t get her it wasn’t from lack of showmanship he thought to himself.

“Ok let me just put my stuff down.” She said and she walked over to one of the reclining pool chairs. She undid the skirt and dropped it to her ankles. He was shocked, she had on a thong bathing suit and he got to peak at her perfect ass and great legs. She was a keeper he decided to make his move.

She dove in and swam half the distance of the pool. When she got up and took a big breath of air, slicked her hair back and said, “Aren’t you gonna join me?”

“Yeah.” What the hell he thought and he took off his shirt, he was cut and he liked to show it off. He emptied his pockets and cannon balled her.

“You asshole.” She said punching him but his hands were at her waist pulling down the thong. She couldn’t help it anymore she kissed him and it was a magnificent kiss, so full of passion. She wrapped her legs around him as he entered her.

Two weeks had gone by and their plans were almost ready. It would be a direct attack on the school the next day. His friends were all going to meet him outside home room. He was talking on the phone to Julie.

“So what is it you aren’t telling me? You seem so distant tonight.”

“I can’t tell you.” He said trying to avoid the subject.

“Pleaseeee I just want to know.” There was silence on the line. “Just tell me.”

“Ok but you can’t tell anyone.” He wasn’t sure about this but she was his girlfriend and he didn’t want her getting hit by a stray bullet.

“Tell me.”

He took a deep breath. “Ok, Ok here it is…” He was so stupid he knew he shouldn’t tell her. “All you need to know is not to go to school tomorrow.”

“Why my parents won’t let me just stay at home. What you have another girlfriend?”

“Pshhh I wish.”

“What? You want another girlfriend?”

“No. Shoot. I didn’t mean it. Listen some shoot is going to go down tomorrow I don’t want you to get shot.”

“What the hell? Why would I get shot? What are you doing tomorrow?”

Maybe he should be more direct. He decided to just tell her. “We are bringing guns to school tomorrow and we are going to make Columbine seem like child’s play.”

“I’m coming over.”

“What? No my parents are awake.” He said but she had already hung up the phone.

5

His father opened the door. “Hello?”

“I’m Jake’s girlfriend, can I come in?”

“Sure he’s downstairs.” He moved out of the way and she entered. “Jake why didn’t you tell me you had a girlfriend?” Jake was already on the stairs coming up.

“Don’t you tell him…” Said Jake.

“Tell me what. Wait did you have sex?” Said his Father.

“No much worse, well yes we did. Let me just talk to Jake for a minute.” She said walking down the stairs.

Downstairs she was freaking out. “Where are the guns?!! Give me those guns so that I know you aren’t going to go through with it.”

“Baby…”

“Don’t you baby me! I’m serious Jake. No boyfriend of mine is gonna be a homicidal murderer if I can help it.”

“I…”

“You won’t go through with it. Is that what you are saying to me?”

“Baby…”

“Say it.”

“Ugh…” He considered telling her but he just couldn’t.

“Tell me or I’m gonna tell your parents.”

“You wouldn’t…”

“Try me.” She said and she was dead serious.

“Alright, frick, I’m not gonna do it but my friends are gonna kill me. This whole thing was my idea.”

“Baby I’m so proud of you.” She said and jumped into his arms. With a girl like that how could he go wrong?

“Jake where’s the shoot?” Asked Isaiah.

“I didn’t bring it.” Said Jake.

“Why not?” Asked Arron.

“My girlfriend took it.” Said Jake.

“What the frick?” Said Nick.

“You were the one who wanted me to go talk to her.” Said Jake defensively.

“That’s it we’re done. We’re gonna do this thing with or without you. Right guys?”

“I don’t know man Ashley and me patched things up and I can’t die on her.” Said Shawn.

“Yeah come to find out we aren’t losers girls think we are cool.” Said Nick.

“WTF!! This is bullshoot!! Am I the only one that wants to go through with this?” Asked Aaron.

“We’ll stop you…” Said Isaiah.

“You know what frick you guys.” Said Aaron and stormed off.

“Don’t worry he will come around Jake. I’m glad we aren’t doing it. I don’t think I could take the guilt. I mean I’ve been thinking of colleges and trying to make something of myself.” Said Isaiah as if his shocking good looks wouldn’t be enough for him to make it.

In homeroom there was a buzz going around. The quarterback kissed his girl but sat near them at the back of the room. Aaron was smoking in the bathroom.

“I heard what you guys were gonna do and I want to say thank you for not doing it.”

Then the whole class turned around. How had they heard so quickly? “Yeah thanks.” The all randomly said. Jake had never felt anything like this before in his life.

“You guys are the shoot, don’t you know that we all like you. I mean shoot you guys are cool why would you want to do any of that dumb shoot? You just need to loosen up and let us in. We don’t hate you. I can guarantee we don’t.”

“Yeah.” Said a few of the others.

If any of them knew… but they all did even the teachers eased up and if there is one thing we can learn from the American Indian it’s this, it takes a village to raise a boy to manhood and a man to stand up against adversity. Now for the first time in their lives they felt it. They were men now all of them. Aaron came in and said, “What did I miss?” As everyone stared at him.

“Hi Aaron.” Said one of the hot girls from the front row and she popped back in the lollipop.

“Ok what the hell is going on…?”

Then the four of them laughed. How could they have been so stupid not to see that none of their classmates were so bad? “Don’t worry guys we will fill him in.” Said Jake as the teacher walked in.
