opening scene to the darkest night.

Pandemonium and panic filled the streets of Novaen. Plumes of thick greying smoke, spiralled and danced into the air as people pushed and shoved through the cobbled streets. Cries of “fire! Fire!” rent the air as villagers scrambled over one another to avoid a fiery end. Babes in arms were crying as the screaming got louder. suddenly , figures appeared, wearing dark billowing cloaks as they rode on large black chargers, pushing people out the way as they ducked to avoid the horses ivory colored hooves. A man jumped down from his horse, wearing no cloak but a red cape tattered with age and dirt. He leered, mangling his already ugly features, as he pushed a young child to the ground. The men started shouting, ruthless and cruel at the villagers, telling them to kneel before them. Silence. One by one reluctant the people started going on their knees, bowing so low their foreheads touched the sooty ground as the only sounds that were heard were the hungry crackle of the fire, licking up buildings and a horse snort. The air seemed dense and heavy as it lingered, feeding the incoming fire. Each villager slowly looked up, with fear in their eyes as the leader spoke with a grim smirk. “Your king is dead” he called through the silence “you have lost”
