Oli and I

Oli and I.

I live in the mountain of Sinai for months by myself… no actually I live with my dog named Oli,

Oli is sweet and intelligent.

One day after getting home from work, I changed up my work clothes into my running clothes, by 4 in the afternoon I am ready for our routines a jog around the mountain.

We did 5 minutes of walking, then we started with a slow jog, we enjoy walking and Oli always stay by my side, he never gets distance from me.

Then suddenly Oli stops, I had noticed that he is just looking behind us, his ears are bouncing a sign that he is hearing something.

But I tried to pull him forward but it seems he is persistent, so I played along for a few moments to let him see that he is curious over nothing, but it wasn’t anything, because I finally saw what he is looking at.

There were two men back down the way the direction we came from, and they are looking at us, I waved to them just to try to be friendly, and pulled Oli and told him to come, he started running again by my side.

Not without looking back again.

That moment I thought everything was normal, till a minute later, Oli stopped me again and he starts barking.

I saw what he's looking at this time, the two men slowly walking towards us, I was standing still holding Oli closed, expecting them to eventually pass us but the closer the slower wends.

The men maintained eye contact with me and slowly continue approaching us, then I noticed Oli turned around and start barking in another direction, behind us! I almost got a heart attack when I saw the men earlier maybe 10 feet away from us slowly approaching as well, I knew now that something bad was about to go down,

At that moment I felt someone grab my arms behind me, and Oli’s barks turned into aggressive growling and rapid dog’s barks.

One of the men screamed that’s apparently Oli bit him in the leg and won’t let go, that forced the man to lose his grip on me and gave me the opportunity to tackle the other man to the ground.

It took a little force to release his grip to the men’s leg, but when he did, we ran back down the trail.

The other man who I tacked did not try fighting back after his friend get bitten, maybe he realized they are outmatched at that point, but I won’t stick to find out what their intentions are.

We got back to the house in 5 minutes, only because we splinted back, I checked Oli to make sure he is not hurt or wounded at all, but he is fine.

I am so grateful to have Oli by my side he is my friend, my hero.
