most of all
“Storey is a regular teenage girl. She is a sister, a daughter, and a student at Lendview high in Jacksonville, Florida. Storey hates her parents, hates school and most of all, Storey hates Storey.” …
“hey, storey get up I need your help on some homework before school” yelp a tiny voice from the side of Storey Hampton’s bed. As it is routine now the tall slender girl slithers out of her bed.
“ill be down in a minute bug, let me get dressed.”
“ok, hurry”
“right”
She throws on a white tank top and a gray blazer over a pair of faded jeans, then wraps her dark hair into a bun and is off to the kitchen. Her sister is at the breakfast table with unfinished fractions, her father sits across from her with the times and mom is rushing through the kitchen trying to finish breakfast as if anyone is actually going to eat anything but a pop tart before they are off for the day. She goes around to the seat next to her sister Liz and discreetly finishes her homework while the ‘rents aren’t looking. “there, your done” and she slides it into her bookbag. A high pitched car horn honks from outside. “ that’s me” she kisses mom aod ead on the cheek and heads out. “tah”
“ugh, finally Friday” she sighs and hops into a car with her girlfriends. They drive toÞthe top of the schools parking garage, and roll up all the tented windows in tally’s blue sedan. Three girls step out five minutds before school waving themselves out of a large puff of smoke. They step away and in the elevater dgwn they spray themselves with the all different body mists creating a cloud of obnoxious gas. Storey is vanilla, tally is morning mint, and jen is coffee shop. The girls all walk through the day waiting for an end to come. On her way out storey is stopped by the new boy from her French class. “hey, its Storey right?”
“right, and your…um, sorry im bad with names”
“no that’s fine,” he says modestly, “ im dark”
“right, ill try to remember that, whats up?”
“Well I just moved into town and im throwing this party tonight.”
“yeah, you seem to be speaking my language, “
“ just a few people, but I hear you can get stuff.”
“depends on what you need”
“like I said its going to be exclusive. You included so ill need like, 4 beans, and an ounce of tree, and I can get my own booze”
“huh, ambitious aren’t we?”
“can you help me or not?”
Tally screams to her from the steps outside, “come on S!”
“yeah!” she walks off backwards still talking to the new blood, “facebook me an address and time, im never late” and she runs off and rejoins the girls.
“What was all that?” Jen asks
“oh, nothing, looks like we have an adventure tonight”
“oh, fuck what have you got us into this time storey?”
“Nothing Tal, you always make things sound worse then they are, just chill.”
At home storey, starts her adventure with a hot shower. Storey always showered hot, ever since she was a child she’s loved the feeling of her skin burning and reddening, the steam rising and sweating her worries of waking life away. she glides through her room with a towel wrapped around her, almost like dancing and whips on a ripped T-shirt and a pair of jean shorts. After an hour of bedroom ballet storey is sitting suddenly tan, silver eyed and high heeled on her bed. She whips out a big untraceable flip phone and taps her thumbs at the speed of light, welcoming a scruffy little man into her polished white room. “hallo”
“How’s it look, storeybook” the strange boy says as he tinkers his fingers among the necklaces hanging from her mirror. He looks up with a smirk. Storey shines her shining pupils at him and opens up to say
“its Christmas, Ben”
“only for you, ace” as a skinny hand bones a messenger bag, for a small bag and its fat parent. She slips on a set of black tinnes-shoes.
“thanks for the lift” storey leads him quickly out, and points to her dresser in one swift move. The two stray outside for a cigarette and small talk until tally pulls up and she jumps in careless that she is leaving him alone outside of her home.
“in omnia paratus”
The girls arrive at the address of an abandoned warehouse, and once again she pull a thumb full which seems to magically open a door that could not have been noticed if it stayed closed. The place was completely empty except for 1 round table holding up cans of whipped cream, a bowl of gummy bears, bottles of red, gold, and white, and a pile of yellow highlighters. The building was filled with blue and green lights.
They’re stoic, in a line, almost like they could hear each others thoughts. And with a lift of voice “ready” dark says to lead a criss of hands raising to their lips and a cross of champagne bottles alike. And they run. Back and forth, from the start of this huge place to the end, and back and forth and back and forth. In a mist dark grabs her hand and leads her through a side door and into a van. That seems almost to drive on its own, and dose she notice? No.
“my place” he says declaratively. No question mark. But she answers.
“yours”
Storeys eyes read the streets that follow to yet another foreign building. “Hm, this is where my sister is staying for the night” she says in a sleepy, hazy voice.
“shh”
“ok,” sighing Dunkley, “ shhhhh”
The van moves faster and storey falls deeper into what she thinks is the clouds.
“ahhhh!” a loud screech follows a young scream.
“Storey is a regular teenage girl. She is a sister, a daughter, and a student at Lendview high in Jacksonville, Florida. Storey hates her parents, hates school and most of all, Storey hates Storey.” …
