It Will Be Alright
It Will be Alright
In the beginning of beginnings
was a great black bear.
He was so big
he couldn’t see the ends of his paws
when he reached out to scratch and tear.
He couldn’t hear his own growl
or roar
which came forth
with nothing to stop it.
He scratched and tore
and growled and roared
and scratched and tore
and growled and roared
for so long
that he grew tired
and lay down
in the great blackness
around him.
Nothing happened.
Nothing happened.
Nothing happened.
And then a curiosity
looked, looked again
and saw lights,
so many lights that it
kept looking
and even found some were burning.
There were so many it couldn’t stop looking
for a long time.
And then another curiosity looked,
and another and another
and another.
They could all see the lights
and the fires
and this made them
make a shared place
from which to look.
And compare what they saw.
Soon they helped others
who were more asleep
awaken
and join.
The great bear still slept.
One curiosity spotted the great black bear
and wanted to awaken it.
Others were very afraid
and warned him.
But he went and woke the great black bear.
The great black bear scratched and tore
and growled and roared.
And scratched and tore
and growled and roared.
But the brave curiosity
held out the great black bear
for others to see
and showed them
how it would fit
neatly in their pockets.
If put in just so.
And the brave curiosity
thanked the great black bear
for the bits of his claws
that made the stars and suns.
And he thanked him
for his great growls and roars
that filled the blackness.
And the great black bear
shed a tear
which became
a million galaxies
that spread out
to awaken others.
The brave curiosity was glad
and the others were glad.
It would be alright.
It would be alright.
