How I became a writer.
Hi,
My name is Marilyn Williams and I became a writer in the last 11 years. You see my husband passed away in June of 2013. I had just retired the day before he died. This had been our first marriage of eight years. He was 67 and I was 60. So there is still hope for those of you who are still single. At any rate, I was in despair and emotionally drained. I had nothing. Then one day someone handed me a writing book on poetry. I wasn't much on reading let alone writing poetry. However, I picked up the book and started reading. Then I thought maybe I'd try a hand at writing down my thoughts about my husband. It made me sad, but I wrote down everything that was in my heart. My husband seemed to say to me, keep going. I have been writing ever since. Short stores, poetry and the like. I'm not sure if people are reading what I wrote. But I keep writing. I hope that by writing this little story, it encourages someone who may be feeling the same over a loss will take up the pen. Although my husband is gone, he was very encourging even though he couldn't read. So, I write for him and me. If you happen upon one of my books or poems, I hope you like what I had to say. This is all for now. Marilyn.
