future Love

Within a couples weeks of Mr.Myer hurting Freya he tried to be kinder to her in anyway he could think of. “If I put on the charm and try to be nice to the brat she’ll trust me. And then once i get that trust well we’ll see what happens after that. First thing first trying to be nice. ” Stefan tried not to roll his eyes at the fact his master was trying to be anything then what he was. “Mr.Myer the house girl Theodora gave me this letter for you. It might be important.” Mitchell took the letter from his personal helper opening and reading it. “Great just great.” Mr.Myer reread it again and then turning it into a ball in his fist. “What is wrong Sir? Is your father sick or something happen to your Mama?” Mitchell looked at Stefan wondering why he would say such a thing. “No Stefan my dear boy it seems that the bank has gone under some since I have been here plus that little tramp Lavender Rose has been spreading lies about me again. After how I treated her. I have to go home and fix all this. Set it up in the next couple days will you?” Stefan gave a short nod and left the room. "Oh just wait until Freya sees can see how charming I can be.“ Mitchell Myer said fixing his tie in the mirror.

Just a few days before Freya were to meet the Union Soldier she heard Mitchel Myer and Stefan carrying down bags. Freya rushed down the stairs two at a time to see what was happening. About ten or more bags were by the door. "Where are you going Mr.Myer? You have a lot of bags and here i thought men traveled light.” Mr. Myer turned around and saw the smile that played on her lips. " I have to go back home for a week or more. I have some loose ends to tie up. Stuff for my father and the bank.“ Freya’s smile got bigger by the second. (Finally a break from being stalked in my own house.)

"Do you mind if I were to ride with you into town? I have a few things I need to get for the house and personal items as well.” Mitchel Myer smiled kindly to her wishing that Freya will finally take a liking to him. "What kind of personal items? If i dare to ask.“ Freya went to the stairs to get her bag to take into town. "Personal items are just that personal. I’ll be back down to go into town.” Twenty minutes later the buggy was on it’s way no one really said anything for most of the trip. Freya kept casting on stitches onto her knitting needle and undoing them. Mitchel Myer watched her trying not to laugh.

“Still trying to figure that out Miss. James?” She rolled her ice blue eyes at him. "Yes I know I’m no good at knitting. Can’t even cast on right. My mother could knit up a very long double thick scarf in a fortnight. She was going to teach me before….“ Mr.Myer didn’t know what to say to her. He had treid to be nice but she kept pushing his buttons too many times. "Your father doesn’t speak of your mother and brothers if he can help it. Why is that?” Freya looked down at the knot in her now tangled yarn. “He feels that is no reason to talk about the dead. But I like talking about my mother and brothers. It keeps their memory alive.” When they stopped at the library where the town starts Freya put her stuff back into her bag. “You know just because someone leaves this world it doesn’t mean they are truly gone. A part of them are still with us.” Mitchel Myer said patting her hand.

Just before she left his company Freya gave him a real sweet smile. "Hold on for a second you should have this back it looks better on you then it would ever on me.“ The ruby in the necklace bounced off the light from the sun. "Could you put it on me please?” Within seconds the ruby hung at the base of her throat. Before leaving the buggy Freya leaned over and gave Mr. Myer a swift kiss on the cheek and said Thank you. After a few hours of shopping Freya went to her favorite watering hole for a few minutes out the blistering sun. "Hello my good lady how are you this fine day? Care for a drink?“ She looked at the group of men around the table. Just then one of them stood up throwing his cards down storming off. "I’ll have a white wine.” A couple other men left with the first out of no where a hand with a glass went into the air shaking the ice in the glass. The bar tender sighed and made a drink that Freya knew once he took out the stuff to make it. “Let me guess a four leaf clover right? You mind if I give it to her?” The bar tender handed her the glass and said be my guest.

“So you are still playing cards and counting those cards Ceilia? What would my brother Brandon say if he was still here?” Freya said putting down the drink and sitting next the conwoman Ceilia Swan. “Oh please Freya Who do you think teach me how to count cards? I even counted cards faster then he did.” By this time the rest of the table left them alone upset they were beat by a girl in cards. "yeah I remember when Father found out that he taught you to count cards; Brandon couldn’t sit down for almost a month without ice on the chair 1st.“ "I’m sorry that this is the first time you have seen a hid or hair of me since well you know. I just couldn’t be around when they were sick. Just seeing them like that broke my heart. Please tell me you understand Freya.” Ceilia said picking up her glass to take a drink. Miss.James tried not to look hurt at the woman in front of her but she couldn’t help it. In all fairness if she could have not seen her brothers like how they were in the finally moments she would run too. “Listen Ceilia it’s been years since we seen each other let’s not talk about that stuff. What is going on with your life and your travels have you seen anything truly amazing out there? Please tell me there is other things out in the world then Jasper Al.”

After Ceilia told her old friend of the world and the most time she spent was in New York. “After a year or two of the tables in New York the cops finally caught on to me and I knew it was high time to come home. You know the people in the north act all high and mighty when they found out I was from the south. I had to teach one fool in a bar called The Library how to make my drink. So what is going on here? Any cute southern boys around?” After a more drinks and Freya telling her almost everything she looked at the clock to see the time. “Oh wow father is going to wonder if I ran off again. I should start heading home if I am going make it home by dinner.” When the friends were going to part Freya headed for the door and ran into someone by mistake not seeing where she was going. “Oh I’m so sorry sir I didn’t mean to knock into you.” When she bent down to pick up her bag that went to the floor a pair of sea like eyes met hers. "Hello Southernfire fancy meeting you here of all places.“ Freya cleared her throat and threw her eyes to Ceilia trying not to show him not to say another word. "Good bye Ceilia come by tomorrow if the fine town doesn’t throw you out first.” When going through the door she brushed up against the Union Soldier just in the smallest of ways.

Half way home Ceilia caught up Freya ridding in a buggy. “Care for a ride seems that those bags are going to be the death of you at some point. Maybe you can tell me who that tall drink of water was. If I knew men around here looked that good I would have stuck around.” Soon as they got back to the house Freya told her what her father did and how she met the Union Soldier. After a day and half spending time with her friend Ceilia playing chess the one game that Ceilica couldn’t cheat at. "Dang it how do you cheat at this? I can’t figure it out.“ Mr. James walked by and watched for a second or two. "Trying to corrupt my daughter Miss. Swan?” Ceilica gave a little giggle at that. “If anything your angel of a daughter is trying to teach me to be honest and play this mind trick of a game. Is there a trick to it?” Mr.James walked away taking the newspaper with him. While walking out of the room William complained about the war getting too close. More then he would like it to be in fact. "You want me to give you an out? All you have to say so.“ Freya said taking Ceilia’s last knight. "No I’m going to figure it one way or the other.” After about a half a dozen games Ceilia finally won a game then called it quiets due to the late hour. "You didn’t let me win did you Freya?“ The lady of the house gave her friend a short eye roll and headed off to bed to get up early to take a bath before her meeting with her Union Soldier.

During the Breakfast Freya and her father didn’t say much really just little things about the war and the Wilson Raid. "I’m going to go and spend some time with Cinnamon for a while if that is okay with you and then probably go spend time with Ayden for a while.” Freya said to her father taking a drink of her coffee. "Oh that is fine and you Miss.Swan you going to be around the house or are you leaving us?“ Ceilia gave a sly smile to Mr. James and said "I’m going right after I see Cinnamon and then i’ll be out of your hair if that is what makes you happy.” The three of them spend the rest of the morning just getting ready for the rest of the day. Right before Freya leaves to go see Johnathon she knocked on the door of her father’s study with a cup of tea. “Well I’m going to see Cinnamon and Ayden for a while I’ll be back in time for dinner.” Ceilia came forward with her bag of things and said good-bye Mr.James. “I’ll see you around William until then I hope you are well.” William James looked at the girl who was once his son’s friend trying not to look angry. “Good-bye to you too Ceilia and it’s still Mr.James to you.” With a giggle from the girls they left the house to the barn.

Freya spent a good ten minutes with her horse and saying good bye to her friend. Then started towards the woods trying to find the spot where she met the Union Soldier not sure where really it was. Jumping off Cinnamon walking around trying to find the river trying to remember that day best she could. Out of no where she heard a noise like water coming from the east of where she stood.Freya started to the sound of the water looking around for him and making sure she didn’t trip over anything. When she got to the lack of the better word camp Freya walked around trying to find signs that it was the union soldier. As she looked through little things that would give tell who it was someone came up behind her. “You know I thought I would have trouble with the wild trying to get into my stuff not women such as yourself Southernfire? But then again you are so nosy.” She gave a huffing sound and blew the fly way hairs out of her face. "Hello to you too Mr.Rosemen. It seems that you made it back with little to no trouble. Don’t they need you at the Wilson’s raide?“ The Union Soldier stepped closer to the crimson beauty. "What no kiss for me? And here I thought you missed me or did I not understand the brushing of your hip against my waist the other day? I guess I’ll be going back to my troop now.” Johnothan Rosemen started to walk the other way acting like he was hurt. Freya rolled her eyes at him and ran to face the man she waited for all this time. With every part of her heart and soul Freya reached up and grabbed the back of the Union Soldier’s neck pulled him to her and kissed him hard. After what felt like a life time the two people on either side of the war broke apart. “So you still want to go back to your troop?” Johnothan thought for a second. “I don’t know what else have you got?” She pushed him away and hit his arm as much muscle she had. "So how is your troop? Aren’t they afraid my side would kidnap you and never give you back?“ He laughed and picked her up spun them around and put her back on her feet. "Oh darling if you were the one doing the kidnapping you won’t have to worry about my fighting you I’ll come no problem.”

After what it seemed like days the two got to know each other again Freya told him almost everything that has happened since he left. "By the way Little Storm loved the diary that you gave me for her. She told me that I better not messed up anything between us or she’ll have words for me next time I see her.“ Freya laughed at the fact that the man she loves was being picked on by his baby sister. "This is great just being here talking to you like this. I’m sure my father is wondering where I am. Told him that I’m spending the day with Ayden.” "I saw that friend of your’s Ceilia before the other day. She hustled me out of a lot of money up north. How did you two become friends. Unless you are a hustler too Southernfire.“ She put her head on his shoulder breathing in his scent to remember for later on. "No I’m not a hustler and she was my brother Brandon’s friend before he got sick. He taught her to count cards. It turns out she was better then he was at it. That is how she gets her money for travels. If you see her again send her a four leaf clover drink.” Johnothan rolled his eyes “Sure I just got to make sure I buy the drink before I play cards with her again.”

Freya laughed and stood up trying to take the Union Soldier with her. But he gently pulled her back into his lap to give her a sweet kiss. “Do you want my father come looking for me or my father have heart failure when I don’t come home for dinner?” Johnothan rolled his eyes at her like she was a little crazy. "I just want to hold on to you for a little while longer is that fine with you Miss. James? Or do you think I’m going to take home with me? I’m sure my grandmother and sister would love to hold you captive for me until I’m back from the war.“ Freya unwrapped his arms from her and stood up. "Well in that case I’m sure my father would hunt you down in minutes. I do wish we can just stay here and hide from the world and everything but sadly we can’t sorry to be the one to tell you that.” Johnothan stood up and walked over to his bag and picked up a small box. “What if I asked you something would you change your mind?” Freya gave a sweet smile and said ask away.

About an hour later Miss. James entered her house after putting away her horse; as she is about to go up to her room her father calls from his study. "Freya is that you? Can you come in here for a second?“ She walked into the study trying to not show what she was hiding. "Hello father what did you need?” William looked up from his book and saw his daughter was flashed her face was almost as red as her hair. “Are you okay honey your face is very red.” She tried to relax some but the small object in her pocket wasn’t helping any. "Oh I’m fine not to worry father Cinnamon was running home really fast I must have gotten really been having fun.“ "How was your time with Ayden what did you two do?” Freya sat down in a chair trying to keep herself from not passing out from her heart going a hundred miles a minute. "We just sat around talking about different things remembering our childhood playing hide and seek. He wouldn’t stop talking about going to college in the fall.“ William gave a little laugh and cleared his throat. "Your uncle won’t stop talking about either I’m about to use something to close his mouth shut.” Freya stood up and went for the door and gave a small look at her father. “I’m going to go and get ready for dinner we can talk more later on.” Mr. James nodded and gave a smile to his sweet daughter. Freya ran as fast as she could to her room and slammed the door and dug into her pocket. She found it and saw the beautiful stoned ring that the Union Soldier used to ask his Southernfire to marry him. Freya shrunk down to the floor trying not to think about the outcome of the future.
