Failing To Move On With Life
Honest was born in a family of traditional healers. His mother and grandmother used to have a big problem with sleeping at night. Because of their constant dreams and visions. Which were of scary scenes which seemed real or horrible things happening to them. It was on a Friday evening when Honest decided to end his playing time. With his friends, Lucas and Marcus. He went back home, found his grandmother, mother, uncle. Who was the youngest and, his young sister watching television in the dinning room. They decided to eat their dinner in the dinning room. Wanted to watch an episode of their favorite drama show.
Yesterday in the evening the drama show ended up. With their favorite actor being pointed with a pistol that had a silencer on. Honest opened up the door and went to the kitchen. His mother heard the door open up. So she decided to move to the kitchen. To inform her son that they are eating dinner in the dinning room. She did that giving him his plate of food which she retrieved from the fridge. They both went to the dinning room, sat down. And Honest’s mother continued eating. Just as Honest said a short prayer. His grandmother never allowed them to eat without praying. Or thanking their mother for cooking dinner.
It was a everyday thing and they enjoyed praying as a family. Honest enjoyed praying for them before going to sleep. They ate their dinner and it was after eight pacific meridian. Time for Honest and his younger sister to go sleep. Honest’s mother never allowed her kids to sleep after eight pacific meridian. They had to wake up early in the morning everyday going to school. Honest and his younger sister stood up and got ready to sleep. Honest used to sleep in the dinning room on the couch. So he prepare his sleeping place and tucked himself in his comforter. As it was during the Spring season and it was hot. His grandmother, mother and uncle.
Decided to sit in the dinning room till they were sure Honest was asleep. They switched off the television, lightbulbs and went to sleep. The toilet was in-between the kitchen and Honest’s grandma’s bedroom. She slept in the bedroom because she was old. And did not have to trouble herself with travelling to the toilet. She heard anything and anyone that made noise in the kitchen. And dining room as her bedroom was next to the kitchen. The house had two doors one in the dinning room and kitchen. They always used the front door which was the door in the dinning room. The door in the kitchen was mostly used by Honest and his mother. His mother used when she wants to wash and hang their clothes in the sunlight.
On that day Honest’s uncle unlocked the door and burglar. Went outside to smoke cigarette before gong to sleep. He forgot to lock the door and burglar. They had just moved into the house. So they were still planning to build a wall around the house. Replace the fence around their new house. They all fell asleep except Honest’s grandmother. And just as Honest was fast asleep in the dinning room. A certain white Volkswagen Citi Golf pulled up outside Honest’s home, mainly next to the gate. They were two men in the vehicle, one was the driver. And the other thief to break into people’s homes. The thief went out of the car jumped the gate. Checked if the burglar and door were opened.
He was carrying a pistol and had hoped to rob someone on the road as it was at night! They found no one walking at night in the city. The thief found the burglar and door unlocked. He quickly signaled his buddy in crime to keep the engine on. Did so opening up the unlocked burglar and then got ready to open up the door. Honest was dreaming about a man who had broke into his home. Holding a pistol, he saw him sneaking and checking to see if anyone was awake. He sneaked through the front door, Honest was on top of the couch he slept on. Just as the thief wormed his way through the dinning room. The light was switched on. The thief saw Honest on top of the couch. Pointed him with the pistol in his hand.
Incident made his family relatives to wake up. The thief instructed him to shut up, his loud tone woke up his family. The thief single handled controlled the house. Just as he rapped his younger sister and mother. After he managed to attack, keep him and his uncle thief using a rope. Apart from hurting his uncle who was left hurt as the was nothing he could do. He woke up just as he heard his grandmother shout his son’s name. The thief exited the house as Honest’s grandmother was now making noise. He was now scared of what Honest’s uncle will do to him. He exited the house with Honest still scared and shocked from what happened in his dream.
He was shocked to find his grandmother and uncle talking about the thief he dreamt about. He kept quiet not knowing what to say to her. Or what to do as he was afraid of what had occurred in his dream. But the other side of him was happy as nobody was rapped or hurt. He found out just as he listened to his grandmother and uncle’s conversation. So it meant he was seeing what was to happen in the future. While his grandmother saved them as a woman. Not to mention that the way she spoke showed how scared she was. But she made it look like she had everything under control. As she kept on speaking about how the thief got angry. The instant moment she screamed for his uncle’s name.
It really did scare the thief as it was like she was calling out a army. Honest’s uncle exited the house to check on who was it. The same white Volkswagen Citi Golf that pulled up outside his home earlier on. Driving off just as it left the street covered up in dust and carbon monoxide it released. He came back inside the house. Locked up the door and burglar. They tried to go back to sleep but could not. The worst thing was that Honest and his sister had to go back to sleep. As they had to go to school early in the morning. Honest’s grandma decided not to report the matter to the police. Honest failed to sleep and stayed up the entire night. He only slept in the early hours of the morning.
He was still scared and could not sleep in the dinning room alone anymore. He only slept there that night as it was his last day. The situation might have left them shocked and scared. His grandmother had planned to speak to the neighbors about the vehicle. It was not a good time for his family in their newly purchased house.
