Dragonroids

Dragonroids

Written By: Aaron Bonds

Prelude to Chaos:

Everywhere you looked, fires raged as buildings crumbled. Waves and waves of fire assaulted the buildings, the streets, and those unlucky enough to be caught in the open. Heat waves are visible in the air as the paint drips from cars. "What have we done?" A single calm voice echoes amongst the screams. The owner is an older man with raven hair and a thick beard covering his expression "Levar, care to explain why the world is burning?", "Well Dr. Remi remember those dragons we found" Levar looks up with a smug look on his face. Levar, Bob, and Sanni are Dr.Remi's assistants who were all shaking hands with each other and patting themselves on the back. "Why the fuck do you all look so smug the worlds burning explain this!" Bob was the first to chime in "we were curious to see what could happen to an adolescent dragon fed steroids until adulthood." "You what?" Dr. Remi's face was in shock while these three idiots congratulated themselves. "Dr. Remi, before we finish this discussion, let's watch the results here". Sanni walks over to a hand scanner on the wall a door opens and inside they walk.

Bob speaks when everyone is inside and situated. "We were testing the growth potential of the sibling dragons we found upon our arrival here." Bob opens a small screen showing the results of their experiment. "TS1 we gave regular intervals of steroids through his growth process." "On the reverse with TS2 we released him with a tracker to grow naturally to adulthood. The results were stronger than expected." TS1 started out very hostile towards the assistants but given sedatives to keep it calm until it got used to them. They kept tabs on TS2 the whole time watching his progress through the chip put inside its body. TS1 was larger than TS2 but TS2 was dramatically faster. TS2 was a lot more docile towards other animals and wasn't as aggressive toward people. But on the reverse, TS1 was hyper-aggressive towards anything. "Those were a few of the results of our experiment," Bob concluded. Dr. Remi picked himself up out of the chair "You find a mythological creature and your first response is to experiment on it". The assistants looked at each other and they all answered in unison "of course".

Dr. Remi walks over to the door and kicks it open. "You gave a dragon steroids for years and surprised it went on a roid rage you are scientists correct?", "Yea, that's our bad" Levar and Bob's half-assed apology only pissed Dr. Remi off more. Before anyone could really react, they noticed the room was getting hotter. Looking at the camera they noticed TS1 trying to melt the wall from outside. "We should leave Doctor, both our experiments are done, and it's time we returned", Dr. Remi obviously troubled with the state of this rift. "You understand this rift has billions of people that will die because of us." They were unaffected. "it's just one rift there are billions of others" The room's temperature was now uncomfortably hot and sweat poured off everyone. "Dr we need to go now" Dr. Remi removes what looks like a smartphone after scanning his palm a rift to another dimension opens and in, he steps. "You are all dismissed. I won't be hiring you for my next excursion, good day." Dr. Remi closes the rift leaving his assistants stranded. Inside a large office building a young woman in a military uniform greets him "Welcome back to HQ Chief Remi how was the experiment?" Chief Remi turns with a look of displeasure "An utter failure."
