Brave Boy

He promised mummy he wouldn’t cry. Not today of all days.

It was a Special Day, like his birthday or Christmas, mummy said. She even made him have a bath and she came and washed his hair. She put some icky stuff on it so that it didn’t all stick up like it usually did.

His new shoes pinched his toes a bit. The new shirt itched and his yucky tie felt too tight around his neck. They were not what he would normally wear, but today he was officially going to become a Big Boy.

Today he started school.
