And then the door bell rang!
As she woke up, she saw a Scarlet macaw near her window. Beautifully blended colors of red, blue and yellow. That was a good start for the day,she believed. She moved the ornate fabric from her curtained bed as she got down to prepare a hot coffee for herself. As the aroma of the lightly caramelized coffee reached her senses, every nerve in her relaxed. The warm breeze was soothing too. So delighted was her spirit that she felt even the dew drops on the leaves were dancing and were waiting for the first ray of sunshine just like how she was waiting for her dear one.
As she blinked her eyes, thousands of memories flashed inside her. Those were incidents that had happened years ago yet so fresh as if it had just taken place. But there was something special in all those memories. She wasn't alone at all because at all instant she had him. Liam..
Memories of how they would secretly run to the kitchen when the smell of Julab Gamun reached them and how they would dance around the Gardenia and Roses were still soo alive. During spring, he would bring her lily of the valley and then they would ride their bicycle till the nearest lake.On their way, he would fill her basket with all the sweet scenting and colorful flowers that they find.
Cheerfully they would giggle all the way to the lake. There, they would feed the fishes and prank the old shopkeeper.
Everytime they park their bicycle:
Liam: Hey you ! Sweet trouble! Don't you dare to steal any of these flowers of my girl ..
Jacob: Oh I know..
Lisa: I'll finish off all the toffee kept here if you do so.
These constant talk was like their identity. Jacob would treat Lisa and Liam like his own kids. For years he had seen these kids and all their innocent and playful naughty acts were loved by him. Years passed by, yet they were that one constant in each others lives until one fine day when Liam and Lisa had to part for their ways due to job transfer. Lisa was now a profound journalist while Liam was the editor.
Usually parting ways would bring tears but unlike usual tales they had hope for that fine day when they would meet again and bring the entire city to standstill and then how they would gift flowers to their neighborhood children. It's been 1 year,10 months and 17 days now. She hadn't received any message or call from him. She hadn't changed here residential address though. Inspite of such long absence, she always had an enriched hope of their reunion. His last words did ring in her ears often.
Lisa: Won't we meet again? Won't you fill my cycle with lilies again?
Liam: When the wind never stops itself from soothing others spirit,
When our heart never forgets to beat,
Then how can the world stop us from meeting, dear !
Lisa: Am always with you, idiot !
Liam: ALWAYS !
As these memories were flashing within her, the door bell rang. Who might be that person, she wondered. As she saw the person behind the door, she was delighted beyond measures. It was as if the entire city lights were switched on at that very moment.
It was the very same eyes, the same smile....everything same. He was back. She wanted to taunt him for neither texting nor making a call but at that moment all that her heart could do was to give him a warm greeting hug.
