Alarmed Pt. 3

The time had suddenly flicked from 2:36 to 5 pm., just like that. I rolled out of my bed with an excited look on my face. The hours earlier had been miserable and overwhelming, but we can forget about that now. Everyone I know is coming, so what’s the worst that could wrong? As I strut to the back door, all of the same distressed thoughts had sprinted to the front of my mind once again.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

There it was again, but it will all be ok. I took a deep breath, before yanking open the door. As the fresh air brushed against my cheeks, a sense of relief also blew past, causing my anxiety to soon drift away.

‘Hey, there she is!’ Tao was grinning ear to ear, as he excitedly opened his arms wide. You just can’t help but to smile. Tao is that one person that will always (somehow) find a way to make you smile after one of the worst days of your life.

‘I haven’t seen you in ages. Where have you been?’ I ask.

‘Just a bit of travelling every now and then. Now, we have to see everyone else.’ His face of happiness had soon eroded. ‘I’m pretty sure I saw Ben and Austin here too…’

‘Again?! Just, try to avoid them. We can’t let them ruin this. At. All.’

Sometimes I feel a bit harsh talking about the twins like that. But they’ve done heaps of things to my friends and I. So, should it matter?
