Ain't Scared Of Nothing
It was 1969 and I had been home a couple of days. I went down to the local bar, kind of a rowdy place, to get a beer. I sat down at the end of the bar next to a big guy. I ordered a beer and lit up a smoke, he pushed the ashtray towards me. We drank a few without talking then he asked Viet Nam and I nodded yes. Guadalcanal and Okinawa he said, Marines. I nodded my head again. You scared of anything he asked, I nodded yes and replied, I suppose so. He said I ain't scared of nothing, they scared the scare out of me. Then he said find me the meanest biggest dude in here and tell me where he's at. I looked down the bar and walked the tables and booths and came back and sat down. There was a lot of bad looking dudes in this place. He asked did you find him and I nodded yes. Where he asked and I said right here. I saw him grin in the bar mirror.
