A Bloody Relationship
As the last dying embers extinguish from a haggard wizard’s fire shield spell, he presses a cloth to his chest to staunch the bleeding from an elder daemon’s claw gash. He uses his free hand to grasp the ninth rune on his belt…”a noxila vhun ahgtena” is the healing magic he recites and can now feel the warm kiss on his palm from the glowing stone. It was a long and vexing battle and his weary bones are primed for retirement…retirement of a life of mage combat, foul monsters and low coin. He promised his beloved to do one more job. He would prove his love to his significant other any other way but the land as been tainted with a growing number of beasts. As a master spellcaster…he must help how he knows…no matter how skimp the financial trimmings. He returns to his holdings to meet his eager husband…a vampire with a dry sense of humor and impeccable fashion. “I trust the runes put the battle in your favor?” Greeted the wizard’s undead lover as the wizard walked in. “I trust a vacation to the sun filled Islands of Vivyer are still out of the question for us?” Retorted the wizard that was met with a vampire’s hiss. “I’m just glad you are home safe. This place was beginning to smell a little too non-offensive” Replied the Vampire. “May your wit last as long as your eternal and dark existence, babe.” Replied the wizard as he took off his magical gear and sat down to his favorite cooked meal and the company of his fanged unlife partner.
