Every single being, even those who are hostile to us, is just as afraid of suffering as we are, and seeks happiness in the same way we do. Every person has the same right as we to be happy and not suffer, so let's take care of others wholeheartedly of both friends and enemies. This is the basis of compassion.

I look up into the sky. As a paint brush swirls half heartedly around in my mind. I see a family of robins flying by, silhouettes of past lovers in the clouds, castles of the working class, and warmth. All the things I dream of, wish for, dwell on. And don't have. My canvas is blue. The pigments mixed with tears. The sun now setting. Time is my enemy. Beyond the horizon an army of depression is at battle. My soldiers are blue.
