Of course I believe that we can know things for certain because of God and His certain character. Naturalism cannot compete with that claim.

If you want to call yourself a Poet, don’t let anyone speak on your behalf - speak in own poetic voice. Don’t let anybody else speak about your abuse, expériences or healing. You not only give away your poetic license, you give away your power to feel completely. Any trauma will be diluted in this way & your cycles of repressed emotion will remain repressed in fragments. Worse, it will be coloured by someone else calling themselves collaborators. This is a sophisticated form of power usurping.

When someone says that the poetry of Shakespeare, Shelley, Keats, etc. is boring I don't know what to think of them, any more than I would know what to think of someone who said that love is boring.

To call someone who expects poetry to be skilled and serious art a "poetry snob" is like calling someone who doesn't want to live on Whoppers and Slurpees a "food snob."

Who is more ambitious: someone whose ambition is to be a billionaire, or someone whose ambition is to be a great poet? Consider: in 1820 Wordsworth, Coleridge, Blake, Byron, Keats, and Shelley were all alive and writing poetry. In 1820 who was the richest person in England? Who knows? Who cares?

Read your poem aloud to someone who isn’t into poetry. Can they tell it’s poetry and not prose? If not, you haven’t written a poem.
