When you lose small businesses, you lose big ideas. People who own their own businesses are their own bosses. They are independent thinkers. They know they can't compete by imitating the big guys; they have to innovate. So they are less obsessed with earnings than they are with ideas.

These people who are always briskly doing something and as busy as waltzing mice, they have little, sharp, staccato ideas, such as 'I see where I can make an annual cut of 3.47 in my meat budget.' But they have no slow, big ideas.

Big Ideas are so hard to recognize, so fragile, so easy to kill. Don't forget that, all of you who don't have them.

Believe Big. The size of your success is determined by the size of your belief. Think little goals and expect little achievements. Think big goals and win big success. Remember this, too! Big ideas and big plans are often easier -- certainly no more difficult -- than small ideas and small plans.
