Contest Description

What to Submit?

Choose one ( please just one prompt, don't mingle the 3 of them)

1. THE THING I NEVER SAID
A poem about something left unsaid. It could be love, regret, anger, gratitude, confession, forgiveness—or something the speaker doesn't even fully understand.

2. THE LAST LIGHT
What does the last light illuminate? A room, a person, a memory, a dying relationship, a battlefield, a childhood, a future—or something entirely unexpected.

3. WHAT REMAINS
After everything is gone, what remains?

I particularly like these three because they're extremely open, but each has a strong conceptual center.

And they can produce radically different poems:

  • The Thing I Never Said → intimate / narrative / psychological
  • The Last Light → visual / symbolic / philosophical
  • What Remains → existential / emotional / metaphysical

The contest rule:

No requirement to interpret the prompt literally.
