When I Was Young

Remember that day ..in the parking lot?
Just you and me smoking pot
The sun was warm, my face was hot
I took off my shirt ..you did a shot
A young tired soul, with a bottle of gin
I was quite young and on a binge
I didn't know how this saga would end
I finally decided to make amends
Then I decided to throw in the towel
I quickly departed ..indeed with a foul
I changed since then
I found a clue.. to happiness without the booze
You were me and I was you
It was us ..just the two
The room is silent, I am alone ..once again
When I was young.. it makes me grin
