Fight Against Darkness

In the darkness
There lies a figure
Tall and slender
Gracious and calmly
With a hidden strength
With an assertive stance

My mind questioning
Should I run or confront
The chaotic thoughts running
My body stands still
Being frozen in time
Legs of solid concrete

The figure standing nigh
Watching with deepened eyes
Piercing through like a spear
Waiting in a pensive stance
With a stretched out hand
A gesture to follow

Fighting the feeling
I should be scared
Numb to the sight
In a sense of ease
I take hesitant steps
Depleting fear within

The figure smiles
Turns and begins to walk
Having a hidden agenda
Drawing away from the light
Subtly descending in darkness
Unwavering and loyal

Slowly creeping towards the darkness
I feel an inward sense
Telling me to turn away
I glance back at the light
Being faded by darkness
My legs locked into place

Furious and unrelenting
The figure released a fierce scream
From calmly to agitation
Knowing he’d be empty handed
He stretched his hand to grasp
Failing, he continued to fall in darkness

Feeling a change in power
I began fleeting away
Turning against the darkness
Legs nimble and fast
Grasping at the light
Leaving with a new hope.
