Phoenix

She is shadow on their screens
Yet it takes forever for her ghost to fade.
They cannot know her nor
give meaning to her metaphor.
She is alive and sees things clear today-
Further than planes fly,
And she hears her hoarse, new voice.
Their searchlights can't blind her
As they chase the darkness in the badlands
of her soul.
All their walls are fading light,
Death-throw shivers against riddles of
Foregone conclusions,
While an innocent sky in her eyes fills with
dreams of levitation.
It's not hard to fall behind when
Gravity's hands grope and drag,
Pull you down as
They preach prayers, chant myopic mantras
while watching women burn.
Turning her head she shuts her eyes and
crosses her fingers, not hoping but knowing
Their lies hold no power-
These parodies of men now falter in fear
As they watch her rise.
