Curiosity Killed the Cat

The cat in a hat
Looked longingly at the mat
Never to mew with a mate
Regrets were too late.

All it took was an excuse in necessity
Yet it was all because of curiosity
Once stranded in the city
Lamented the mendacity

He remembered the whispers,
The wistful tones,
Of joys untold, out there in the city
Paved with milk and honey.

Oh, naïve cat,
Oh guileless cat,
So out of your depth,
Frustrated and miserable,
Time is up.

The adage holds true,
Yet you couldn’t tell from that clue
curiosity does kill cats!
