Blind

Post after post
Chop and change
Tweak this a little
Blow this one up
Blur that line out
Upload this concept
Send it out
Another slur gone viral

Stop. Breathe. Check my status.

1 million views.
Success.
I’m relevant.

This is ‘the new norm’.

Born from a broken culture.
A virus that beat the system.
Broken networks
A trashed connection
Where will you be when they cut that extension?

Snip snip
The power’s out
Cut cut
Our time is up.

Race Wars
Gender Wars
Hate Wars
Just enough camouflage
Just enough discretion
And you’ll be sucked up
Consumed by all these lies you live by.

Tell me what will it take
For you to wake up
And realise that all this time
You’ve been standing in line
While the potter shapes you
with the clay made of that you sacrifice.
Shapes you and breaks you
This damned ballet.
I’ve had enough
I’m sick of watching this dance.

WAKE UP!

Smell that cheap perfume
wrapped in crystal and style.

WAKE UP!

Throw away that cancer candy
That placebo prescription
Those spoils and plunder

Wake up.

It may already be too late.
We’ve been this way so long.
But wake up all the same.
You’re behind the times
And it is time to see
That you’ve been
BLIND.
