Liquid Sunshine

After a long, dry, barren drought
I looked up to see a heavy cloud.
It then began as a sweet, soft mist
Falling gently onto my pallid skin.

Sleep with you is strangely safe.
Your warm presence is my hiding place.
I hear the rise and fall of your blissful breath.
You send all my nightmares to their death.

Sprinkling turned to a steady rain.
I felt it rinse away layers of my pain.
Then I held out my hand to try and feel,
Wondering if this shower was really real.

Music with you feels more alive.
We become as one and the stars align.
On a song’s shoulder I rest my head,
While your voice caresses me in my bed.

No more holding back, the sky above,
Flash flooding, overflowing me with love.
I’m drowning within your oceanic eyes,
And in my lungs, your living waters rise.

Life with you and I is boundless.
No matter how far away our love is.
At last, this magic feeling has returned!
A rainstorm to wash away years of heartburn.

As I dance, the sun reaches out its rays,
And it’s on you where I fix my gaze.
The light twists and bends into a beautiful dream.
You are the rainbow saturating every inch of me.

And I’ll never use an umbrella again.

Maybe droughts are good for something; they make it rain so good you put away your umbrella and let yourself be sated. Beautiful, sensuous, poem. I hope it pours ;)
