AM NO WOMAN'S FRIEND
AND COUNT NONE AS CONFIDANTE
THEY ARE BASELESS, PETTY, GOSSIPY BEINGS
WITH NARY AN EXCEPTION.
THEY HOLD NO APPEAL.
THERE IS NO AFFILIATING SPIRIT,
NO URGE TO SHARE
OR PRETEND THAT HUSHED DISCOURSE
IS RELEVANT.



I
PREFER THE MALE OF THE SPECIES
THEY ARE THE KNOWN
THEY CAN BE UNDERSTOOD
SURPRISE IS RARE
RELATIONS ARE EFFORTLESS
DIME A DOZEN FLINGS
OR MILLION DOLLAR HEARTBREAK
WE HAVE CREATED THEM.
WE HAVE MOLDED THEM.
SO WE MUST, 
OF NECESSITY,
LIVE WITH OUR MISTAKES.
