Only You

I drove by your house today
I got butterflies in my stomach
and my heart was beating
at light speed, it felt like
memories rushed back
about how you felt so right
now that I'm thinking about it
we could have been SO happy together
you made me feel special, wanted even
you are the only person who I feel understands me
but that happiness
could have only lasted temporarily
I fell for you but I didn't let you catch me
because our love, as special as it was
would only hurt others
and ruin lives
but I hold onto you
so on a rainy day or when I'm sad
I can relive those few moments
that we had together
and I can meditate on the words we shared
with such wisdom
