Trust

TRUST
People say trust is
	A two-way street
But I see trust
	As chess pieces
Often manipulated
	To fit the needs
	Of the two players
The sad thing
	Is looking back
At the conclusion of each game
And see all the chess piece
	Casualties
When you realize
How many trusts
	Had to die
For someone to win
	The ‘game’
How discouraging to know
That this simple
	Classic ‘game’
Can be so symbolic
Of our lives
When we come to the realization
That we’re all playing chess
Every day
Every person just a pawn
	Or a knight
	Or a rook
To your king or queen
Each of these pieces
	Shuffled around
Manipulated to fit
	Your end game
Each piece a trust
	Built up
Over time
Only to one day
	For the sake
Of your survival
Be destroyed
	Kicked off your board
As you’re both left
To writhe for a while
	 In the aftermath
As you momentarily
	Oh so temporarily
Bask in your win
	Your vicious victory
Only to figure out
That with every new person
	Chess piece
You meet
A new game has begun
As you carry the baggage
	Of all your broken
		Conquered
Former trusts
In a back room of your mind
Making you so much more
	Deceptive
	Objective
	Detached
	Uncaring
You so much more frail
In the next game
The next in an endless series of
	Chess matches
That will last until
You yourself fall victim
Of a trust war
And you yourself become
	Irreparably
	Metaphorically
	Symbolically
	Mentally
	And psychologically
Destroyed
Annihilated
Beyond all repair…

Nicely written Jenny, Chess is a battle of minds and a good way to describe trust, or lack of it. Beware the Pawns, they don't move far but are cunning and will catch you out, Regards Kevin x
