From the Dirt Came a Miracle

no one could predict

a white rose
blooming

in the rubble of adversity.

Its leaves and thorns
Clipped
and eaten away

Singed by
the unforgiving sun.
Battered by
the relentless storm.

Grounded by
Its last root.

Worn
with shattered hopes
for a garden.

Still it stands

Defiant --
with Love
with Compassion
with Fight

and hope
that fragile thing
fragile like those leaves
that defeated the wrath of the elements.

though the sun may burn

now is not the time to wilt
now is the time
to adapt

and rise taller than the rest.
