Over the Moon
I remember when you first lifted your head,
Expanding your sight beyond me.
Eyes wide with curiosity.
I remember when you crawled full speed,
Exploring the world before you.
Hands dirty from touching everything.
I remember when you could walk,
Then run, tearing through the neighborhood.
Feet moved like lightning.
I remember when you asked me questions about life,
Girls are curious creatures.
From crushes, to dating, then kissing.
I remember when you mustered the courage to marry,
Vows of responsibility spoken from your heart.
Children of your own following closely.
I remember when you told me you were proud,
Trying in vain to hide the tears that welled in my eyes.
Then you kissed my cheek and said thanks Mommy.
