Staplegunned

You wanted to kiss me

I saw it in your eyes

Both times that it almost happened

You shoved it all back inside

I wanted you to kiss me

I wanted that so bad

We were so close

But still so far off

And all I can hear

Is your voice in my ears

Telling me:

"You can tell everything by the way you get kissed"

I had so much to say that night

So much more I couldn't

But when our lips brushed against each others

It was o so apparent

We both knew we shouldn't

I'm leaving this alone

I'm going to walk away

But goddamn in my heart

I really just want to stay

Stay all night

Inside the warmth of your arms

I want to fall asleep with you

And wake up unarmed

I don't feel I have to hide from you

I've never felt I have

I can just be myself

No smoke

No mirrors

You won't love me any less

But no

You don't love me

I shouldn't say that

I know that you don't

But I do know

You wanted to kiss me

As badly as I wanted to kiss you
