Seashells

Seashells

In these early morning hours I find myself unable to run from my thoughts....they catch me,
"I show them the table" there is no hiding,
there is no suppressing.
The silence that I seek at the end of a long week is a double edged sword; providing both clarity and confusion. In the clarity I find hope, peace and satisfaction in all the little victories.
The confusion comes later as I sink deeper into my bed, the black ceiling closes in and heaviness fills my chest.
 I'm trapped here.
Alone.
Meanwhile,
on the shore of my heart the Trojan horse prepares innocently,
waiting for 2:43am.
I am defenseless as I hear the rusty trap door swing.
A battle ensues...

At 3:37am I walk the same shore collecting seashells,
I bring them to the table....sit, rest my head and sleep in the shade of my equine friend.
