Poem For You Lets Make Things Better Again

Poem for you- let’s make things better again

Empty hall,
Heavy heart,
I walk around,
But my eyes are bound.

I reach out,
Trying to bleach the darkness within,
but a hand took the bleach away,
and I think I have gone astray.

I have never seen a hand look so metallic yet so soft,
So beautiful yet so ugly,
So white yet so black,
I wish I could be grey like you.

But my skin is dark,
It’s not the smell of chocolate you feel,
So soothing and calm,
Like the night sky on a silent rooftop,

It’s the smell of coal,
And the feel of sweat and tears,
As you try to make the machine work,
But it never does,
And you’re running out of coal.

I try to give you more,
But it’s not the coal you need,
It’s the sun,
How do I do the impossible?

The suns outside,
I only noticed it there recently,
But you’re inside the machine,
Do I have to let you go?
For you to feel the warmth on your skin?

Is there a way to bring the light inside?
I don’t want a lightbulb,
It always breaks.
I want the sun
For you and me and for us.

Empty hall.
I try to knock.
Silence.
Where’s the sun gone?

Very moody, very engaging metaphor. Great poem.
