A Mother

A twin she is,
a shoulder to cry on,
a mothership she is.
A perfect example of God’s love.
your other half,
your advisor,
Giving you guidance when you are lost.
Directing your steps.
Once in those shoes
but now willing to wear your shoes.
Feeling before you feel it.
Your pain her pain,
your failure her failure,
your loss her loss,
your tears her tears,
your success her success.
Patient, caring, loving,
free-spirited, open-minded, open-hearted,
persistent, perseverant, strong,
brave and courageous.
A conqueror she is.
A warrior she is.
Fighting the battle for you.
Interceding on your behalf.
Carrying you for all those months
and enduring the pain.
She is the rock of your soul.
Mother, she is.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Have a blessed New Year.

I am not a poet. My Mother was. She passed away in late January days before her 65th birthday, days after her 48th wedding anniversary. I don't know if I can live without her. This poem is an embodiment of the most wonderful woman I've ever known, Catherine Arnold. I work for a sign shop in South Louisiana. Yesterday I sublimated this poem on a sheet of bronze. It will be displayed in her garden on the side of the house where she lived for 48 years with my Daddy and raised 5 children. Thank you
