Light of the Future

Oceans make waves
Oceans are blue and beautiful
Beautiful they called her
Beautiful waves crashing against the sand
Sand is brittle
Sand taste bad in her mouth
Mouth full of words
Mouth small as seashells
Seashells washed away
Seashells in the ground
Ground beneath her feet
Ground she lives on
On a hill along the shore
On a nice little home in California
California stayed sunny
California stayed in her dreams
Dreams of happiness
Dreams of freedom
Freedom of America
Freedom of the coast
Coast of the Pacific
Coast of her mind
Mind twisted like a twister
Mind twisted like a twizzler
Twizzlers in cherries
Twizzlers in strawberries
Strawberries mostly grown in California
Strawberries taste so fresh and sweet
Sweet until she hit the beach
Sweet until she moved by salt water
Water is cold
Water takes up our world
World of people
Word of flaws
Flaws washed away in the ocean
Flaws reflecting in her mirror
Mirror of her past
Mirror of who she used to be
Be yourself
Be courageous
Courageous enough to surf oceans
Courageous enough to move waters
Waters of California
Waters not so cold anymore
Anymore a word of the past
Anymore a word that comes so fast
Fast as wind
Fast as light
Light of the world’s oceans
Light of the future
