A Child

A Child
By Margie Anne Bernard

The gift of a child
is a blessing from above,
placed in a parent's arms
to be cherished and loved.
With his or her first cry,
of unspoken words
comes a message so simple,
'I need to be heard'.
He or she never asks for much
only to be fed and nurtured
with a kind gentle touch.
A child will follow in your footsteps
in the wisdom of your years.
Please walk this child through laughter,
not unanswered tears.

Children need to be cherihed and nurtured. Encouraged, not discouraged or worse. So true, your poem.
