Teddy Bears In Space

Teddy Bears in Space

Enlisted in the flying school
To join the Space Brigade
They’ve all been trying very hard
To try and make the grade.

Up an coming Space Cadets
The Teddy Bears are training
How to fly a Rocket Ship
The switches need explaining

They put them on a roundabout
And spin them round at speed
Ted and Rupert both threw up
A clean up was agreed.

Next they put them in a pond
And turned them upside down
Lionel lost his facemask
He thought that he might drown.

Out they came, and off they went
To learn bout navigation
Where the stars are in sky
Important information!!

A special plane then took them up
From very high it dived
Had them floating in the air
Surprised they all survived.

1st time on a Rocket Ship
They didn’t know was ready
Someone pressed the blast off button
They all looked round at Freddy.

At first there wasn’t much that happened
But with countdown soon complete
All fell down now with a thud
Pressure pushed them in their seat.

Up and up their Rocket went
Through clouds and atmosphere
Floating in Space suits
Faces full of fear.

Many miles out past the moon
And on their way to Mars
The only thing to see from window
Was blackness moons and Stars.

All the fuel was now used up
The spaceship floated on
Five Teddy Bears all frightened
A way home route was gone.

Lionel turned the radio on
Remembered from his training
That if he used correct wave length
Could be some help obtaining.

The speaker crackled into life
With distant voice from far
A plan was been calculated
At first might seem bizarre.

In the cupboard near the front
Were Fifteen tins of beans
Feed them all to Freddy
Along with plates of greens.

Don’t let him do a single fart
Although it may seem cruel
With any luck there’s half a chance
You can use his gas as fuel.

Connected up with wires and pipes
Our Freddy was aghast
Then at a special time prepared
Fred gave a mighty blast.

His fart came out, went down a tube
And into Rocket engine
Filled the tanks to overflow
Then Rupert pressed Ignition.

The motor roared back into life
With sparks and bangs and smoke
It set them on their way back home
This really was no joke.

They landed at the Space Centre
On a path that they had mapped
And when they left the capsule
Then everybody clapped.

They thought that they might be in trouble
For their un-expected trip
But then they all got medals
And a 1st class scholarship.
