Crying In the Rain

rain fell down
 not droplets outside
 but tears from within
 drowning a once
 determined soul,
 breaking it.
 sad people love the
 rain because they
 are no longer crying
 alone.
 I love walking in the
 rain because no
 one knows im crying.
but if I sit in the rain,
 maybe I can drown in
 something other than my
 own thoughts.
 for it rained for days
 after you left me.
 as if the sky itself
 shared my grief.
 maybe the rain is our
 tears during our cloudiest
 hour,
 and the thunder and lightning
are the sounds of our hearts breaking.
tears and rain are the words too painful
for a broken heart to speak.
and now it taps its fingers on my
window calling me back from troubled sleep,
 it asks me a question,
it asks if it may sing
in my ear to soothe my heart.
 until I fell asleep.
 I complied,
and I wish the rain was you.
and I wish the lullaby was
 from your lips.
