A Muslim Girl's Plight

My sisters and I are slaves,
Slaves to a harmful culture
That forces us to marry before we are grown,
At age 14
At age 9
At age 6
At age 5
Our mothers cannot vote
Nor can they save us
From the fearful and evil old mullahs
Who would turn my generation into suicide bombers,
Nor can they save us from the men
Who would have us before puberty,
Who force us into the terribly hot clothes,
Who punish us for being female,
Who deny us education,
Who would stomp on our smallest wish.

This is a truly wrong poem that applies to all cultures ESP Hindu culture. In all the hundreds of Muslim nations I have researched this does not happen. muslims girls are never forced to marry anyone , none that I know of. So your poem is falsehood and a version of shockingly wrong allegations. As for clothes most Muslim women wear it for their own protection by their own free will while some don't but they are not forced into it. No Muslim is punished for being female dahh. what a falsified view u have.!!! Most Muslim women get married 18 and above the world over so u talk of singular individual case. In any case it is far better than the western culture which impregnates and allows sex with twelve yr old girls. That's really harmful for them and far more common than the marriage of teens in Muslim culture. We have the real beneficial freedom and our wish is the men's command. Yor poem is a gross misrepresentation of Muslims.

Wow, it always amazes me when I hear this kind of story, I sometime find it hard to believe that some-people who call themselves Muslim can do this to their fellow human being. May Allah give you the strength you need to endure and Insha Allah a way out. Thanks for sharing

Thank you for being so brave. Your writing is your fight back. I, myself, am a Muslim woman and lived in a Muslim country, but my experience is much different from yours. The culture is much different and I lived in a free society. It is a tragedy that you live like this. It is a tragedy that the culture oppresses in the name of Islam when in fact, it is a peaceful religion that is hijacked by people with a personal agenda. Stay strong and keep writing. Thank you
