New Brother Gone

Hello my Bro, it seems long ago
We didn’t know but it started way back when
And now, I sure wish I could see you again
After all those years when our lives were apart
We finally met and were just going to start
A life together with all those ideas
I sure wish I could see you again

Life is strange and it’s hard to figure.
Who pulls the chains or squeezes the trigger
We’ll never know who makes the decisions
When it’s our time to leave or further our visions.

It all started a long time ago
At the end of the war in small town club
Where lovers met and cut a rug
They danced to the big bands and drank their beers
Their hearts were free again and they lost their fears
They had survived and life went on
But their feelings were deep for the ones that were gone.

Life is strange and it’s hard to figure.
Who pulls the chains or squeezes the trigger
We’ll never know who makes the decisions
When it’s our time to leave or further our visions.

We were born but we never met
We lived our lives not knowing each other
Until many years later I found my Brother
Someone determined our time had arrived
The moon and the stars were aligned, and we began to merge our lives
It was a different time, but a good time as we explored our past
We talked, shared thoughts and friends and assumed it would last

Life is strange and it’s hard to figure.
Who pulls the chains or squeezes the trigger
We’ll never know who makes the decisions
When it’s our time to leave or further our visions.

We began to have fun and shared our minds
Over those few years we explored mankind,
Went campin’ and drinkin’ and scouted old places
But the good times were short and turned to embraces.
It’s like a dream where you wake and say
I can’t remember the ending in the light of day
But, I sure wish I could see you again

Life is strange and it’s hard to figure.
Who pulls the chains or squeezes the trigger
We’ll never know who makes the decisions
When it’s our time to leave or further our visions.

So I’m left here without you and ponder all that we missed
Growing older and trying to understand the reasons to persist
How special it was that short time we had but it was taken away
A life thief named “C” whose purpose still causes dismay
I think about you always and will forever remember your grin
But, I sure wish I could see you again.

Life is strange and it’s hard to figure.
Who pulls the chains or squeezes the trigger
We’ll never know who makes the decisions
When it’s our time to leave or further our visions.
