Wild and Free

I used to be the guy
Your eyes would sparkle
You'd give out a sigh
I'm in awe, remarkable
Your heart beat faster
Every time I smiled
Never ending love
We were free and wild

Then I took a chance
One roll of the dice
Crazy wondering eyes
What a glorious vice
Didn't feel like a fall
She fit in my hands
Couldn't hear the tick
Almost out of sand

Though I hid my lie
Your spark is gone
Where's your sigh, my awe
You say nothing's wrong
Can't feel your heart
I can't force a smile
Never ending love
Has been gone awhile

One forbidden dance
I just can't confess
My romantic bliss
Now an unsettled mess
It's as if you know
You can see through me
Can't hide the loss
Of wild and free

Very good write, A.C. You're right - things can turn on a dime, even if mysteriously.
