I Am

As i sit here wondering, thinking
i write everything that comes to my head,

Then almost instantly I feel a certain pungent dread.
This is my life therefore i must accept it,

I'm an ordinary island girl, a girl of the world
yet i do not feel defined by who i am

i am exotic, my wavy hair flows
my small eyes dart and with my voice i sing like a lark.

Beautiful i am. I am beautiful.
and yet i really don't know who I am

is my olive skin with yellow hues the true essence of me?
it certainly is my individuality.

I am every girl out there that hates to love their hair
their skin, their diversity and not really being one or the other.

I am, I am that sea breeze, fresh like a rose with dew.
beautiful and delicate.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
