The Bar Is Closed Down Now

Both rushing
Me from the north
You from the south
The wrong way round.
Shorts. Tee shirt
A bottle of beer.
You arrived in a state
After a day’s work hauling
Your bag through the Tube.
You’re glowing I said.
Sweating you said, embarrassed.
A virtual hug into a real one?
Are you kidding you said?
No I said. Then yes! You said
The bar in Euston?
See you there!
Sitting close, the brush of a leg
No kissing though
We might be seen
That look that shake of a head
I think I’m falling in love.
I’m not a million miles from that.
Faces so open. Flushed.
Surprised? Awe? Love? The heat?
Just happy. Unencumbered.
Joy. Pure. Writ large and open.

Your last 2 lines, Jane, a place the reader (me!) understands, you have written quite original....'Faces so open. Flushed.' Perfect! jim
