All I Ever Did

Have I gone mad?
Is this insanity?
Maybe;
But all I ever did
Was stop pretending to be happy
Stop pretending that everything was okay
It’s hard to lie to yourself
Every single waking day.
We try to silence these feelings
To paint out the words
Forming on the flesh of the tongue
Of lonely souls and outcasts.
Trying to hide that feeling
We all feel it
We all feel it
Insanity seems beautiful
When it’s not common
Not incredible
When you meet the others
Who whisper to you
In dark alleyways
And in the dreams
We all feel it.
