It Is What It Is

i’ve changed so much these past few years,
after walking through a storm, that brought only heart brake and tears,
the thoughts i’ve known, and the ways i’ve grown
feeling kinda lonely, yet never really feeling alone,
now i’m traveling through life these days, all on my own
as each day rushes to turn into a season, i sit with myself now for hours, to quietly reason,
i look intently to see, the reflection i now cast, just a broken ol mirror, a forgotten ol past,
nobody is my name now, nowhere is my address, i stay out in the back with noone to impress
some days i’m filled with a feeling of shame, some days, theres somwbody else i can blame,
somedays all i want to do is get going again, but the feeling passes so i just settle back in,
cuz i don’t want to stay in any of the places i’ve been, and the gap between me and the grave,
just seems to be getting mighty thin, somedays i just sit all alone,
with old memories that cut all the way down to the bone making my heart turn hard as stone,
i guess i’m just waiting here for the day, the preacher will say a few words,
and they’ll just chuck me off in the cold clay, where my ol lonesome bones will forever lay......
