Unbirthday

Noon simmers a chamomile lavender
Like the summer rain that resembles diamond tears
The tea pot serenades my senses with aroma rays of hope
My favorite mug sports a Sunday best just waiting for service to begin
Your Saturday mug is game time ready in a classic all white number
You are spreading the sandy toasted bagels with butter and avocado
I don’t see all the fuss over avocado, I think its overrated
But the way you, avocado takes my tastebuds on a 5-course meal in one bite
Let’s trade the second bite for a kiss, maybe a couple
While three spoons of honey steam relax the tea
Two for me and one for you
You would always preach, tea tastes more alive with milk and honey
Like the leftover promises passed by spoon with the arms of forever
My first sip would reminisce,
Forever wasn’t complete until your rib became the spine
That’s when I noticed Forever only lasts until the bottom of the cup
So, why not free fall into the sanities of this moment until the end sees tomorrow
And perfumes the conversation that follows a warm cup
You ever, notice how tea tastes better when you’re with that someone
Your senses heightened
Hearing her nerves raindrop on the table by way of tapping fingers
Dancing a classical slow sway
Swaying like everything I ever wanted love to be, drizzled with a golden flavor
Your darling sways like the taste of vanilla
The way it compliments everything, like eyes that inspire reassurance
The purest flavor only has one ingredient
You,
That is to say, God and you is all I need
A trinity Psalms would sing
And I would just karaoke: I can’t breathe without your pen next to my poetry
This is the offering
Let’s sacrifice the need to fit in as if the Art love is trying to photograph while watching us could ever be replicated
Our heart was never meant to sing in their key, so throw it away
Leave the door open for random possibilities because the heart doesn’t look at the schedule
This is why Paint could never brush the color of our love
Photos could never capture the smile of two hearts becoming one
Silence always shows my thoughts trying to get dressed
You noticed was perplexed, asking what thoughts are trying to overthrow your thrown
The waves of locked feelings clash
All I want to do is tell you about the little boy who wants to teach the man how to fly
But time is flying by so fast I forget to use my wings
So, I search for the note tucked between the pages of a book you told me to read
The note plants courage
The note reads keep going, no matter what I know you are going to be great because we’re a team
So, I hit the runway of emotions to U-turn back to your question
Insert a long pause
I’m thinking about you
What about me?
The way the hot water from the tea pot causes the flavor to sky dive from the tea bag
Is the same way my feelings pour from my heart when I’m next to you
Dispersing through my bloodstream into goosebumps that feel like mountains when I’m trying to explain how you do…
This thing when you’re talking, where your bottom lip curves a quiver like a flower petal
That turns up the volume of my love but keeps me silent
So silent, I could hear the question before it left your lips
She asked what’s something weird about you
My response fell like honey tears
Ummmm;
Sometimes I’ll put tea in my ice cream
She said that’s not weird, dig deeper
I said fine: I still remember the shape of how you blushed when I said I love your eyes
The shape?
Yes, your cheeks rosed into a diamond, so I let my lips apply some pressure
Seeing if roses could make the diamonds bleed
Then I would just add an additional kiss to the cheek to band-aid
Any fallen petals
She looks astonished while leaning forward before she can even get the words out
What are you waiting for poet, KISS ME!
In that moment I wanted her lips on mine like the rain skating down the window
Her sugar honey is TEA
A queen so I’m willing to drown in her nectar
I haven’t written the perfect poem yet but if I did it would feel like her lips
p.s. the tea is cold now…
