Restless

A lamb’s bleat escapes your throat
While you sleep being attacked by a fleet
That dreaded dream is back again
Rearing its ragged head
Stirring up agony and dread
Of all things—of all people—why you and your thoughts!
Couldn’t the two of you drawn lots?
Why did fate have to choose you to carry the burden?
Thanks for this twisted plot.

Out of the two of you, you thought it should have been him—feeling this pain
With nothing left to gain.
Time just kept on moving on!
No time to acknowledge all of the injustice
He was the one with a heart of ice
Why isn’t he frozen and numb
Making you speechless becoming dumb
But you just stick up your thumb
I’m good
Glue on that smile
Don’t give them a clue as to what he’s done to you

Just close your eyes
Get some sleep
And there,
There the fear begins to steep.
Diffusing it’s black purple ooze of a bruise

A lamb’s bleat escapes your throat
Awaking you
Drenched in sweat
That dreaded dream is back again
Rearing its ragged head
Stirring up agony and dread
Of all things—of all people—why you and your thoughts!
