Apocalypse

It shattered my world the day you left me.
The sun came crashing down to earth and cracked into broken lights made of glass.
The moon smacked into the ocean and tsunamis crushed civilization, sinking what we had.
Now I'm just waiting for the stars to skyrocket down on me,
Their finely sharpened pointed blades aiming to sever the veins that pump my heart.
For now I keep myself afloat above the murky waters that devoured lives past.
I'm barely there.
I'm leaning on a rickety pieces of debris, my life support, as I try to regain the remainder of what I have left of this world,
Trying to cling to the tidbits of memory I have left that are slowly slipping from my grasps.
Memories fading because my eyesight picks up nothing but foreign visions that remind me nothing of how I used to see.
Remnants, barely-there reminders, are all I have left.
With broken limbs and broken dreams, I wade through the waters seeing shelter from the storm, a place to be at home.

Now on solid ground,
Steel rods placed on my neck and shoulders,
Torturous, but I cannot allow myself to look back.
Makeshift blinders on because tunnel vision is the best thing to have when you can't return to the past.
I forgot myself in order live anew.
I force myself to continue to move on.
There has to be another one out there somewhere as I'm forced to keep wandering alone until I find exactly what I'm looking for, what I deserve.
